yeah i think i've fully come to terms with the fact that i'm 100% somewhere on the ace spectrum lol
#dax rambles#i'm still absolutely bi but i'm just so fucking indifferent towards sex and relationship shit 90% of the time#i have attraction towards whatever gender but i don't even really consider it or think about it -- granted there is stuff i'm attracted to#i do like many various masculine & feminine features etc -- but ultimately it's just like i'm attracted to who i'm attracted to lol#but i really don't give much of a shit about sex itself really outside of when i'm in gooner mode and even then i only really care about#my weird fetishes/kinks LMAO#and relationship-wise it's the same though yeah i still want a relationship and have a possible crush on someone -- though that could be a#rebound thing since i went through a pretty rough breakup earlier this year + there's some other stuff so i doubt i'll act on it -- but#when it comes to relationships in general like in media and shit i really do not care honestly aside from a small handful of exceptions lol#like i still see so many people talking about shipping constantly here and i'm realising how truly little i give a shit about any#of that kind of stuff LMAO like more power to you but yeah it's never been something i'm that interested in at all aside from a small#handful of ships i like but honestly that's more of a lesser point#i just have zero interest in romance outside of what my own relationships would be i guess is the best way to put it#and i know i could never ever ever be in a relationship with someone who i haven't at least known as a friend for a good few years prior#like no fucking way lmao i need that established level of trust and bond + chemistry but i've literally never developed a crush on someone#outside of friends anyway so lmao and by crush i do mean someone who i would want to try a relationship with not just#“i'm attracted to this person” when it comes to attraction it's whatever and even with that it's very much a “damn they're hot would” and#that's about it lol it's not really super often either which is another main reason why i'm pretty confident i'm asexual to a degree#i think it was something i was in denial about for a while because i'm very happy with & enjoy being bisexual but either way i am still bi#it's just that the way i'm attracted to people & have little interest in sex itself is additionally some type of asexual experience lol#i'll probably delete this later unless i forgor i don't really give a shit though lmao

Hello ! Hope you're doing well! I really loved your headcanons of Bi-han's S/O relationship with his brothers it was so cute ❤ I'm curious what you think the relationship becomes if you take in account the story mode events ( Bihan's "betrayal ") because I'm sure s/o would stik by her husband and support him so how those three interact afterward? Thanks ~
Hi! I am doing okay, I hope you are doing well too! Y’all are so nice here woo hoo
I will answer this in headcanons. Bi-Han x Fem. Reader by the way! Also kind of a little sad :(
Finding out what Bi-Han had done was like a knife to the heart.
She was so close to his brothers that they were her own, as they too viewed her as a sister.
She was definitely distraught knowing that her family was ripping itself apart.
But, she could not just leave Bi-Han. She had married him, but she also married the Lin Kuei when she said her vows.
Leaving him would only result in more anguish.
She would have to support Bi-Han’s decision either way, even if she had her doubts or believed that he was actually losing his sanity.
Bi-Han never fully discussed all the details, but he would tell her the big important ones such as the development of the Cyber Initiative and how they were close to overpowering the Shirai Ryu.
It pained her greatly, but she would smile and congratulate Bi-Han on his success. That was all she could do unfortunately as arguing with Bi-Han about his betrayal was like speaking to a brick wall.
Bi-Han believes that his brothers have betrayed him rather than the other way around. He is delusional lol.
He is blinded by his own anger and thirst for power.
It is argued whether he truly wants to kill his brothers or just wants them to stand down and let the Lin Kuei thrive.
Sometimes, she is never so sure if he really wants to kill his brothers in cold blood. In his eyes, she can see the glimmer of murderous intent, but then it will form into something else.
Like he had lost something important to him.
It was definitely arguable. She had hoped that Bi-Han would never be that cruel.
She could not bear to see any harm come to Kuai Liang and Tomas.
If she somehow ever came across them, whether it was at an event or some different way, she would feel like crying.
She would hug her boys close.
They would hug her back, joyful to be reunited with her.
They know she is not to be enemies with as their fight is with Bi-Han, not his wife.
Even though Bi-Han has stated that family is not off limits in their war, Kuai Liang cannot bring himself to harm her, nor can Tomas.
They know how much she means to Bi-Han, and he would go to the depths of the Netherrealm to protect her.
When those three reunite, it is usually quick as they cannot stay long. If Sektor or Cyrax were to catch a glimpse of them, they would be in trouble.
The brothers understand that she has to support Bi-Han no matter what, yet sometimes they feel that she is not trying enough to reason with him.
But again, they understand that reasoning with Bi-Han is something that cannot be achievable.
Once he is passionate and confident in something, he will continue to pursue it.
Just like he is passionate about overthrowing the Shirai Ryu and teaching his brothers a lesson.
Bi-Han hardly lets her leave the premises. He does not trust soldiers to go with her, and he does not have his brothers.
So only Sektor or Cyrax are really supposed to go with her, sometimes both of them will go with.
They are nothing like Kuai and Tomas though, which saddens her.
They have different personalities, and they put on the soldier face to prevent others from attempting to mess with them.
It is mainly for intimidation. That was something Kuai and Tomas hardly ever did unless it was truly needed.
Trips with Sektor and Cyrax are quick and usually not that fun. They are disconnected from her as they do not want attachments to the Grandmaster’s wife.
Supporting Bi-Han may be difficult in this because her loyalty also stands with his brothers, but since Bi-Han exiled them from ever being mentioned, her loyalties were forced to change.
She had to fully be loyal to Bi-Han and support his decisions. Just as Sektor and Cyrax supported them.
They were almost like the “replacements” for Kuai Liang and Tomas. That’s what Bi-Han tried to show her by sending them with her when she needed a break from the Arctika.
Replacements that were never going to fulfill the places of the brothers.
She dearly misses them. She does not have much contact with them and she thinks about them often.
She thinks about her old life often, truthfully.
If Bi-Han had a change of heart, they could be reunited and happy like they once were.
Kuai Liang and Tomas give her the offer of staying with the Shirai Ryu, even though they both know Bi-Han would rip the realms apart for her.
If she is too scared of Bi-Han or he is doing worse things, they want to make sure that the door is open for her.
She can be part of their clan and live a happier life. One that is not full of darkness and evil.
But they do not pressure her or try convincing her because deep down, they know that her place is with the Lin Kuei.
She is shackled by them, she will never be able to leave unless in death.

Mortal Kombat and the missed opportunity for more LGBTQ+ representation
Special thanks to @bump-inthe-night for inspiring me to make this blog based on a blog she made about NRS Studios being afraid of LGBTQ+ representation (to be honest, I don't even remember which blog it was 🤣 but I'll give credit for my inspiration anyway).
Tumblr media
One of the things I liked about MKX was that Kung Jin was gay, but that wasn't entirely all he was, of course, he was an arrogant jerk, but if you were a kid or teenager in the late 2000s and early 2010s (like me) and watched a lot of TV shows, you might remember that when a character was rarely LGBT, he was rarely more than that. For example Santana Lopez on Glee, I know her coming out arc was important and the whole Brittany thing but Ryan Murphy made a point of telling us to our faces everytime that she was a lesbian, and the fact that he always gave the most important storylines to Rachel and didn't develop the other characters, doesn't help.
What I'm trying to say is that since then many characters (especially female characters) have been written solely for the purpose of taking money from minorities, of course this isn't always the case, but take Disney for example, they spent decades putting black people in racist stereotypes in their cartoons and now they want to convince us that they care about non-Caucasian people by putting Ariel to be played by a black woman. I rarely meet a minority character whose personality isn't entirely that of that minority, and I'm glad that NRS Studios gave Kung Jin more personality than just "he's gay bruh".
But what's the point of impressing everyone ten years ago by making one of the most famous fighting games in history finally have gay representation if the character in question doesn't even appear in the next games? He's mentioned a few times in MK11 and MK1 but that's it, and considering that the franchise has over 50 characters, some of them more popular and requested, I think it's unlikely he'll return in a future game.
Tumblr media
But all is not lost, as we still have Mileena and Tanya.
Okay, I strongly believe that in MKX Tanya was only with Mileena for her own gain while what Mileena felt was genuine (after all, we have her intros in MK11), but even if their relationship was "sex for power purposes" it was still a sort of LGBT representation. In MK11 it is revealed that Kotal killed Tanya and Mileena wants revenge, and in the tower ending of Mileena, Tanya is restored and forms a family with Mileena.
To be honest, unlike Kung Jin, I have nothing to complain about the two of them, except that the hetero relationships in MK1 like Ashrah x Reptile and Bi-Han x Sektor receive more attention than them, which unlike them is already an established relationship from two games ago (but we know that NRS loves to please incels and regions where being gay is literally a crime, so I didn't expect anything less than that).
The fact that Tanya has more scenes with Rain in Khaos Reigns than with Mileena in the story mode doesn't help much, I saw a lot of people saying that NRS turned her straight, but for the love of god, you should already know at this point that she's CANONICAL bisexual, but it wouldn't be the first time I've had someone doubt a bi woman's sexuality if she starts dating a man.
We know that, as I mentioned, not all countries in the world are progressive when it comes to LGBT people, so obviously the studio will censor some things. To be honest, I don't even judge NRS for that because it's not their fault.
What could be done to change the scenario
Add more representation to my point of view.
The heterosexual intros in MK11 are pretty weird, we have Sindel and Shao Kahn wanting to have sex with Jax and Cassie, we have Skarlet with Erron Black and she wanting to marry her own adoptive father (🤮), Kotal and Jade coming from I don't know where and the only normal ones of all these couples: Sonya x Johnny and Liu Kang x Kitana.
Many have theorized that MK11 Kuai Liang was asexual, and it would have been nice if they had implied that he actually was (he may still be in this new timeline, him being attracted to Harumi has nothing to do with asexuality, romantic attraction is different from sexual attraction). Geras is also strongly implied to be asexual, but again, there is no dialogue that suggests this. I don't know if my next representation candidate is a serious consideration, but I would put Ermac on this list, he's literally a body with thousands of souls inside, can't he be genderfluid? Johnny even asks if he uses neutral pronouns.
In MK11, Jacqui could be bi or pan, that would definitely make her character more interesting, or even Cassie could be a lesbian, these are small details, but very important for all the LGBT fellas who play the game.
But I'll go further, and suggest a relationship between Jade x Kitana, they grew up together in the first and second timeline, that would be a good addition, and as for MK1, if KP3 isn't officially canceled, they can develop a relationship, they don't even need labels, because sapphics without labels exist and are valid.
We know that NRS Studios is cowardly enough to only have Mileena x Tanya in their representation box, but as we say in my country, poor is the one who can't dream big.

Kuai Liang headcanon
Hello, fandom demons, may I interest you in a Kuai Liang headcanon today?
Tumblr media
I headcanon MK1 Kuai Liang to have a chronic heart condition that he was either born with or developed over time out of grief after his father's death and his falling out with Bi-Han. Kuai Liang is a very hot-headed person and I feel like his anger, hatred and need for vengeance would eventually take a physical tall on him.
I also think the condition could potentially be a side effect of his pyromancy. We know that he wasn't born with his powers. How he obtained them is, according to him, a well-kept family secret. @inflamedrosenkranz wrote a very interesting theory about how Kuai Liang might have received his pyromancy in this timeline that I would recommend everyone to read. But to get back to my point, Kuai Liang having fire powers instead of ice powers like Bi-Han who was born a cryomancer is definitely unnatural and could come with unforseen consequences.
Another thing that inspired this headcanon were some of the invasion mode nodes from older seasons that I've encountered. Those nodes featuring fights against Scorpion would often talk about heartache, the two most memorable ones being "aching heart" and "inner pain", the latter being located on the fire temple mesa during season 4.
Tumblr media
In an intro with Quan Chi, the sorcerer also claims to know all of Kuai Liang's weaknesses. Plural. Harumi doesn't seem to be Kuai Liang's only weakness and since Quan Chi was apparently told about Kuai Liang's weaknesses by Bi-Han it would make sense that he would know of his brother's condition and forward that information to his allies.
In another intro between Bi-Han and Kitana, it's also said that Bi-Han (his decision to not save his father along with him abandoning tradition) broke Kuai Liang's heart. His heart is often brought up in the game for some reason, which of course, doesn't have to mean anything, but it's still interesting to think about.

I know it's just me overthinking things too much, but I have a lot to say about dislyte (which i'm already talking recently but hey).
One thing that I like is the monster dilemna, which basically is what do you define a monster.
One thing I DON'T like is they just use it on surface level. like "someone who does evil things with their powers is a monster"- no shit ??? why aren't developing your argument ?
I'm genuily mad about this because monster dilemna is a subject I've been getting really invested into.
Am I going to make an essay about it and give you examples ? Totally.
First, let's define what monsters is outside of Dislyte context. Because "monster" isn't defined by just one definition.
The most common concept nowadays of a monster is fantastical creatures.
Which is an even broader term within an already broad concept. What do you define "fantastical creature" ? Because they're can be elves, fairies, unicorns, merfolk, dragons as well as vampires, werecreatures, mummies, ghosts, zombies and many more that can apply to that definition. Do you draw the line between living creatures and undead creatures ? Is a creature more humanoid is less monster than another creature is ? If so, do you put the culturally bad humanoid creatures in the same basket ?
That alone can be an interesting theme to explore. (In Dislyte case, I think it is lightly shown. Miramons are already considered monsters, but there's also signs of Esper discrimination, notably physically transformed Espers. Although this last aspect is barely explored.)
Another commonly accepted concept is about morality. Even a human can be considered a monster if his actions are atrocious and dehumanising.
I think you get the idea already. Humans are capable of doing horrible things because they just can.
One thing I'm interested to explore is if the "Monster" title fits the character entirely, is it all black & white or is it more complicated and the character is around a more gray area ? Is it due to circumstance outside of their control or was it by choice ? Were they influenced ?
More importantly, can they get their "humanity" back even after becoming a "monster" ? Or are they irredeemable ?
(in Dislyte case, you have multiple characters that could be considered "monsters" by their actions : Anesidora, Kara, Long Mian, Yalina, Bi Tao, Yamato, etc. I find it great we actually have morally gray playable characters, but it's a gacha game and stories event are here to introduce a new character, not essentially develop or explore them. The only times there was a seemingly development in mutiple parts events, which I love, and the main story which is done as of now and there is no sign of an upcoming main story.)
(Plus, the essential essence of a gacha game is to release as many characters they can, the only exceptions I saw were in Cookie Run : Kingdom, where along the character events and multiple modes with their own story, the main story always has new episodes, and in Twisted Wonderland where the Gacha was limited to skins of characters but the amount of character remained the same to better focus on the story.)
Another type of monsters is the outcast.
Here it's intimitely related to social commentary. The outcast can be many thing, a literal monster that can be used as a metaphor for an outcast or even a human that is treated like one. The pretext may vary : physically/mental disability or disorder, LGBT+, gender, religion, ethnicity, status, family or even just something that happened to them like gRape. The point is they are considered a "monster" by society cause they don't align with the norm or represent a disruption.
If you want an example, Dracula by Bram Stoker was written as a metaphor for immigrants, shown in a negative light (in context it was written during the Victorian era.) Today, we tend to show the outcasted monster in a more positive/sympathetic light (prime example being a Monster in Paris, but I bet there's more.)
What I would find interesting to do is for the main character to be the outcasted monster and they struggle against this society who rejected them. Do they live in the shadow or are they trying to fight the system ? Do they run away ? How deep does it affect them ?
(As for Dislyte, there is not much ? I think there is Liam but I didn't do Valeria story event to know. Aside from characters, Tangton is a perfect context but it is mostly ignored for plot convenience ? Why would you create a region that actively discriminate Espers but never show this hate ? Chunhui Academy was a ghetto for Tangtonian Espers, that's the most we saw from that discriminitory society. And sorry, for the ghetto it was, it didn't felt like one.)
Next one : monsters are a reflection of humans and their dark side
This one is pretty vague but pretty self explanatory. The monster here represent a concept, a vice or even a primal fear, like we tend to associate vampires with lust, dragons with greed or werewolves with cannibalism etc. In that regard, it is similar to the outcast monster where it is a commentary, not necessarily about society but about humanity as a whole.
One modern example from the slasher It Follows.
And like the outcast monster, it would be interesting to see the main character confronting the monster or being the monster, especially if there is internal growth for that main character.
(unfortunately, Dislyte doesn't correspond to that category. but I wouldn't say no if they try.)
Last one that comes to mind is monster = mob.
I mean. RPG.
Recently there's this "monster mobs are actually humans" trend going in video games which in most instances, it falls flat because they don't really do anything with it, it's just a stupid plot twist to gaslight the player into feeling bad but still not giving them any other choice but to fight them. I'M LOOKING AT YOU GENSHIN.
The only time it worked it was Undertale because 1 monsters were just people not humans, and 2 you had a choice and so it was your responsibility.
(and dislyte is a video game so.)
(If you want to make a twist about mob monsters, think about how it will impact the worldbuilding and the story. examples i gave about dislyte MC )
Okay, that's nice to know all that, but concretly, what can it changes to how Dislyte handles the monster dilemna ? I'm sure the devs won't see the post anyway but it's still interesting to talk about it.
If you want to talk about the monster dilemna, don't make it "monster = bad" just because. If you're going to implement this in your story, make your characters question it, wether they consider other monsters or themselves, are mobs monsters to them ? Humans ? What do they consider "monsters" ?
BASICALLY CREATE A RELATIONSHIP DYNAMIC BETWEEN CHARACTERS AND THE MONSTER. I CAN DO ONE RIGHT NOW !
What do you think is a monster ?
Li Ling : A miramon.
Tang Xuan : An immoral person.
Yamato : Humans are monsters.
Yuuhime : Konkuzan. Yamato eventually.
Long Mian : A creature I envy.
Anesidora : Cute creatures.
Chu Yao : A vermin.
MC : I'm not sure, I think I am half monster ?
Samsa (OC) : Someone that society despises.
See ! That was easy !
I'm sure I talked about everything I wanted but I might miss some points. In any case, you are welcomed to provide your own opinion about it !

My Thoughts On The MK1 Story Mode
Ok! So I wanted to wait to post my thoughts on the game until after it released, so now that it is, I'm gonna spill my thoughts on all the characters!
Starting with the Earthrealmers!
Liu Kang: I LOVE his new design and I love him as a God even more than I expected! Also, him and Kitana reuniting?! AHHHHHHHHH!!! I legit had tears in my eyes when they kissed! It was such a bittersweet moment and I hope we get more of them together in the future. I'm so happy that he got his power as titan back because it just seems more right. Giving it up seemed kinda wrong. So I'm hoping it stays like that.
Raiden: He's SUCH a sweetheart and I adore him! I was surprised that Kung Lao wasn't his champion but I guess it's understandable, since he still seems in over his head. 😂 But I am very happy that he got to be champion instead. And I was SO surprised to see the old Raiden model make a return as well! I'm glad they didn't change him because that would've made no sense. 😅
Kung Lao: Ah, what can I say about good ol' Kung Lao? I honestly loved him a lot more in this game than any of the others. He seemed to have a lot more comedy moments in this one, which I really loved. I literally almost died laughing when he burped in front of General Shao and Reiko and disgusted them. 🤣
Johnny: Funny? Check! Smart ass? Check! Self-absorbed? Check! Literally the same Johnny as before and I love that! I loved his friendship development with Kenshi and it was truly something I never knew I needed. And also, him filming with his phone 90% of the time was so fucking funny and him somehow owning Cassie's drone was oddly heartwarming. 🩷
Kenshi: I knew Mileena was going to blind him in that scene! I was so sad that it happened again, despite expecting it. When he asked Baraka to tell him about his life to take his mind off of the pain, my heart broke for him. 🥺 But him discovering Sento has powers to help him was so cool to watch! I really love how they did his story in this game. And again, he and Johnny were a duo I never knew I needed.
Sub-Zero: I don't know whether I love this guy or hate him! 🤣 Honestly, his grumpy attitude makes me want to bug the shit out of him and piss him off more. 😂 And I'm not sure if he ever smiles. But it is so interesting to see Bi-Han as Sub-Zero again and I am quite happy with the results. That doesn't mean I forgive him for what he did though. 😑
Scorpion: When I heard that Bi-Han was Sub-Zero, I was worried that Kuai Laing wouldn't be coming back. So I'm happy to see him back again. But I still don't know how I feel about him replacing Hanzo. Honestly, Hanzo will always be Scorpion to me. I was upset to see that he lived a hard life on the streets before Smoke found him. At least if Hanzo wasn't Scorpion anymore, give him a good and happy life. 🥺 But I feel like Kuai Laing should be his own character. Maybe I'll whip up a name and design for him later. And also, Kuai Laing is married to Harumi?! What the fuck?!
Smoke: I did not expect him to be as sweet as he is! Like, what?! He had been through so much it makes my heart hurt! And the way Bi-Han treated him made me so sad! I'm glad that he at least has Kuai Laing to be a big brother figure to him still. Because after all, where there's smoke, there's fire. 🧡🩶
Syzoth: What a fucking cinnamon roll! Seriously! I was PRAYING he would be a good guy and not some villan's henchman again and I got exactly what I wanted and more! I already knew about his family being captured, but I had no idea it was his wife and son! He is literally this timeline's Scorpion and it breaks my heart! 🥺 At least he had a better outcome though. I hope we get to see more of him like this in the future. Also, I knew him and Baraka would be friends but I had no clue they had so much in common! Another duo I never knew I needed!
Baraka: I never thought I'd actually like Baraka, let alone feel so sorry for him! Tarkatans are diseased people? Seriously?! What the FUCK, Liu Kang?! 😭 I'd still bet money on that man who attacks Shang Tsung in the beginning being Baraka. It just all adds up. Shang mentioned his potion being able to treat tarkat and then he shows up, amgry that he lied about it being able to cure his daughter? Ok, TOTALLY him! But maybe he can help Syzoth through his grief of his dead wife and son and they can tackle Shang Tsung together once Mileena doesn't need him anymore?
Ashrah: She is literally such an angel! Fun fact about me: I used to be an Ashrah main when I would play Armageddon when I was a kid. 🤭 I hated her new design at first but now I love it! And that easter egg about her hat was perfect! 😂 Also, I didn't expect to like her personality nearly as much as she did. I mean, when Johnny told her that she is welcome to join them in Earthrealm and she said "I've never had a home. That would be wonderful." my heart literally fucking melted! 🥺💖
Sindel: We FINALLY get good Sindel back and they take her away?! WHY?! 😭 Was I the only one who actually cried when she died? Like, they made her so likable in this game. *Sighs* They giveth and taketh away. 🙄
Mileena: I am SO happy that they kept her as a good character and that she isn't always Tarkatan! I wasn't sure how I'd like her being Outworld's empress because I thought for sure she would be evil, so seeing that she was actually kind and not a blood thirsty monster made me super happy! Also, I've been waiting YEARS to see her and Kitana have an actual sisterly bond and it finally happened! Couldn't be happier with her in this game. 💖 Also, her being so fascinated by Johnny's drone was so fucking adorable. 😂
Kitana: This was probably my most favorite Kitana yet! I was shocked that she wasn't made Empress but I actually like her as Mileena's #1 supporter and protector. And she's in charge of Outworld's armies? BADASS!!! And her reaction to Johnny being shocked by her age was so cute. Wait a minute... Who's sick idea was it to sit Kitanna beside Johnny anyway?! 🤨😑
Li Mei: I LOVE this Li Mei! Seriously, couldn't have done her better! Her design is perfect, her story was very good and she did so well to redeem herself. I never would have guessed that her and Sindel were close friends. But I love that! Now if only Sindel didn't die and we got more of that friendship— 😒
Tanya: Her relationship with Mileena was so cute and God, I need more of it! 😫 Also, I really misjudged her. I thought for SURE she would be a villain!
Rain: I don't have too much to say about him other than I liked his design and I seen him being a villain coming. 😅
Reiko: Pretty cool design and I actually liked him more than I thought I would. I'd like to learn more of his story in future games as well. (Also, Syzoth randomly mocking him in the intro dialogues was too fucking funny! 🤣)
General Shao: No words other than he is a dick and I can't take him seriously after that edited picture of him wearing makeup I seen on Reddit. 🤣
Nitara: What the fuck was that?!?! I mean, her design was ok. (Except for that cone-head hairdo. 😂) But Megan Fox did fucking AWFUL voicing her! I was so shocked because Megan is an actress and from what I've heard about her, she does pretty well. But I literally couldn't focus on any scenes with her in them because of how bad she was. How could they do our girl dirty like this?! 😭
Havik: Pretty cool but he makes me squeamish. I don't know why. 😆
Shang Tsung: I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! GO DIE! 🤬🤬🤬 It's crazy because I've always kinda liked Shang Tsung because he was always such a good villain but after that whole Syzoth thing, I despise the bastard. 😂 But I can't believe Shang from the old timeline disguised himself as Kronika to fuck over himself in Liu's timline! 🤣 Also, the new deadly alliance?! Let's gooooooooo! I LOVE all the old game references, especially the Armageddon one!
Quan Chi: I LOVE his new design! His eyes were so creepy and unsettling which was perfect! It's weird because even though I knew he was in the DLC pack, I didn't expect him to be actually IN the game. 😂 Probably, my most favorite Quan Chi so far.
Ermac: JARROD TOOK CONTROL OF HIM?!?! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?! God, when he got reunited with Sindel and the girls, I almost cried! That was such a beautiful reunion! 🥺 And Sindel is now a part of him too? This is crazy!
Geras: I'm glad he is on the good side. They kind of made him seem a bit against Liu Kang in the trailer for him so I was worried. But I love this upgrade, both appearance and personality wise. He seems like a kind soul. 😌
Honorable mentions: Madam Bo! What an absolute badass! I'm PRAYING for her to be a playable character in the future! 🙏🏻 Also, the alternate timeline characters?! That was SICK! And some of them were SO funny too! I mean Klockodle? Stung Lao? John Kahner? Janet Cage? THAT FUCKING SONYA/KANO ABOMINATION!!! 😭🤣 And I'm also declaring that since there are many alternate timelines, everybody's fanfics are canon! 😤
Anyway, yeah, we have waited years for this game—four, if I'm correct—and honestly, it was worth the wait. I can't wait to actually play it! 😌💖

200 km/h push-pull trains
While Germany has recent double-deck train carriages, the Dostos shown previously being built in the 2000s, and updated versions still being produced, France made its last carriages in the 1980s, including Corail cars for inter-city services. But their use was curtailed by the development of the high-speed network.
Tumblr media
Some sets were given push-pull ability, with a driving cab at one end that can control the locomotive at the other - the lead car above being a renovated B5uxh: second-class seating, 5 compartments, air-conditioned, driving cab, disabled access. These have found a new lease of life in regional transport, especially in the East, as the straight and flat Alsace line from Strasbourg to Basel allows these 200 km/h-capable carriages to stretch their legs. The "TER 200" puts Strasbourg only 80 minutes from Switzerland (wink-wink-nudge-nudge for a future trip).
Tumblr media
The usual motors for these sets are BB 26000 "Sybic" locomotives built in the 1990s, powerful enough to get them to their top speed. While not at top speed in this setting, probably running at 100 km/h on the slower line to the Lorraine region, they still feel like very big trains when they go by.
Other push-pull trains exist in Alsace, with smaller locos and carriages rejoining the fleet for the planned Réseau Express Métropolitain Européen. However, most passengers trains everywhere in France now are covered by multiple units, especially since bi-mode units like the Régiolis shown below, have appeared. These are capable of running on electric power or with a Diesel engine, making them as flexible as can be.

You said you loved Orphan Black overall, but what are things that you would have changed about it?
Oh, hm, anon.
The thing is, I loved the show and its emotional core despite its flaws as it delivered one of the most unique sci-fi stories on television.
All in all, they did a good job balancing so many characters, but maybe with more time or maybe fewer plot threads, they could have polished some of the rougher edges there.
Let me think.
Everything about Paul was weak. Maybe a different actor would have worked better, but he did nothing for me as Sarah's love interest. He was bland and boring. I kept yawning during his scenes. Art, as much as I love him as Sarah's bro (and in retrospect I'm glad they didn't shoehorn another romance there) would have been a better choice despite the fact that he was in love with Beth. And given that they later confirmed that Sarah is bi? Why not make Paul a woman instead?
I love Michael Mando, but the way his character was written leaves something to be desired. Full of stereotypes.
Better pacing for some of the seasons. I personally liked season 5 very much, but a few more episodes were needed. 13 instead of 10 would have helped with Rachel's redemption, Helena's flashbacks and the final takedown of Neolution.
Like I said, as much as I adore Rachel, her arc could have gone way deeper. (It's unfair that I keep comparing her to Helena Eagan, who's a protagonist, but I can't help it.) The second half of the final season redeemed her, sure, but it felt rushed.
Helena’s childhood and traumas were fascinating but also somewhat rushed in later seasons. Her backstory could have been explored more.
Since they decided to include male clones, they should have given them more nuance and utilized them to say something more poignant about the military. With the exception of Mark and Ira, the Castor clones were rape-y caricatures. Hard pass.
Incorporating Marion Bowles. She disappeared for some reason in season 3 although she was a major power player in season 2.
The fandom is thankfully dead so I won't be killed for this one, but they should have made Delphine more interesting. I'm sure that had I watched the show as it was airing, I would have been all over Cosima/Delphine, but as it is...Delphine kept making me zone out even when she went full Rachel mode in season 3. That being said, I found their reunion touching in late season 4--especially since I knew the context (fans were mad af that another queer character was killed off).
Bringing back Angela Deangelis. I thought that detective was funny and had the potential to switch sides and help Art and the clone club.
As funny as I find Krystal, I wish she had been given more development.
MK and the Helsinki thingy. Wanted more of that. Especially given how brutal MK's murder was. (I still maintain the opinion that Rachel should have subverted the "powerful woman (almost) dies violently by a guy for being morally ambiguous" and murdered Ferdinand. Not just send him to his death like she did, but grab something while he's choking her and stab/hit him, then call Siobhan to deal with the body. Of course, that would have prevented Siobhan's death, which was very well-written and emotional so checkmate there.)
Bringing back Tony. I found it tokenistic that the gay trans clone was introduced and disappeared after, like, 2 episodes. At least, they mentioned him in the finale.
Cal should have been mentioned by Kira in the finale (and I'm saying this as a viewer that could not care less about him). He's her dad.
Kira's psychic connection to the clones was introduced early but never fully explained.
Neolution's motivations were a little murky and convoluted. Again, I loved season 5, but I think that PT would have carried more punch as the ultimate villain had he been introduced earlier.
Not a criticism, but it would have been nice if we had seen more of Ethan and Susan during their OG scientist days and how their experiment evolved. As it is, I dgaf that Ethan killed himself. Especially since he did it in front of Rachel to punish her for being a product of her upbringing.

Jacques , bio under cut
age: 33
Birthdate: December 18 1989
he's bi
Jacques inherited a giant serpent form from his mother, it rests in his heart magic. its been resting in his family for generations due to the magical threshold vanishing as the solar generator went into sleep mode. it awoke within Jacques, due to the new artificial threshold that's started to appear on Hylox. He can temporarily shift into this giant serpent form, he grew taller very quickly and his family didn't know what to make of it. he fled his house around 16 years old in hopes of getting to his aunts, as many forces were making attempts to abduct him and he didn't know how to make his new powers "work" when he wanted them to. Victor from Avrix co. perused him for days after Jacques destroyed a portion of his home city attempting to flee. However Jacques ran into a group of self proclaimed super heroes who took him in to their hideout, preventing him from getting snatched up by Victor. While he did learn how to use and control his terra magic from the others, He was always skeptical of the morals the team held in regards how they dealt with Grifters they faced, but kind of felt trapped in this hideout along side them. Jacques developed feelings for one of his teammates which also seemed to keep him around. However, it was revealed to Jacques and Matt one Christmas eve that a member of their team had been betraying them, their secret base was compromised by Avrix Co., Jacques and Matt decided the best thing to do would be to disappear together. They ended up moving to a city called Saints and both realized quickly they could hold their own against Victor if he tried to mess with them. well, that is until Matt vanished one day. after his disappearance and Jacques' search efforts coming up Nothing. He simply continued to work his day job, he occasionally hangs out with Perry who comes over to his place during the winter. Sometimes even wish sprites will visit him as some are trying to find Matt as well.

I find it hilarious the Grandmaster probably banging Sektor's head on the wall about how loyalty is important and how Lin Kuei principals are absolute since he was baby and he didn't see Sektor might develop a tinge of independence to realize he didn't have to be told what to do once he's in a superior body. I feel like Sektor was kind of just waiting for a chance to seize power from his father and the Cyber Initiative gave him an opening and I feel his programming somewhat deteriorating was actually just Sektor's personality resurfacing above protocol and seeing that his father was no longer necessary.
I feel Sektor was honestly probably waiting for his father to die in the back of his mind prior(maybe he thought the guy would just die of old age or something) but when the Cyber Initiative was in motion and he got converted, this thought came back and eventually it just kind of weakened the loyalty protocols to where Sektor's desire to rule overrode his father's authority and he didn't feel like waiting for him to expire on his own.
The major reason why I have so hard time buying the whole human Sektor's desire to replace his father from MK9’s BIO is that the story mode, alongside other sources, doesn’t give me anything suggesting he was that ambitious or cunning to begin with and even less to think he was the designated heir. Quite the opposite, from the all named Lin Kuei characters from the same game, he is the most obedient one, the most willing to put Grandmaster’s wish over his own well-being and (at least visually wise) easily dominated by the presence of his fellow clan members. When Bi-Han is shown with Cyrax and Sektor, he takes the central place within their little group. When he is out of the picture, Cyrax openly questions Grandmaster’s vision of cyber Lin Kuei while Sektor is on the defensive, as he has no real argument to add to the discussion and Cyrax clearly doesn’t treat him as his superior, especially when Sektor confronted him about not killing Johnny Cage.
It may be just me, but the human Sektor lacks the initiative that is characteristic for his cyber version. Similarly, for a supposed heir he feels so… subdued and withdrawn, not to mention his father sent him on a very dangerous mission in which the chance of dying was very high. Sub-Zero’s BIO from Deadly Alliance summed Kuai Liang’s choice to aid Raiden in his quest against new threat as “It was highly unusual for the Grand Master to embark on such a dangerous mission” and I think it wouldn’t be too far-stretched to assume Lin Kuei had a similar approach to the Grandmaster’s designed heir.
Sektor is a grown up man in MK9, if he was meant to replace his father at some point, I imagine he would be trained from birth for this duty. However, all the BIO says is that he had no choice about being Lin Kuei, but there is no information he was designed to be next Grandmaster. For all we know, the Grandmaster could have more children than Sektor and even if the man was considered as a potential candidate, sending him to the Mortal Kombat Tournament seems like too much risk - if he died, literal decades of proper education for the leadership would be wasted, wouldn’t it?
My point is, I don’t think Sektor was seen by his father as the future leader of Lin Kuei - or anything more than an useful pawn, so I can understand that Grandmaster has never considered him a threat nor questioned his loyalty. Especially after automation, as C.I. Project was supposed to perfect the human warriors, not grand them better understanding of trauma and abuse they endured for Lin Kuei's benefit.
Frankly, maybe the fact that his son was so obedient and lacked initiative was the reason why he allowed Sektor to volunteer for C.I. Project - additional sources like Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms adds a lot to that feeling of my, as Grandmaster’s explanation - complaint - about human weakness seemed to be solely directed at Sektor, the only cyborg fully presented during the speech: “The mortal body is fragile, weak. So, we enhanced them.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe you are right and Sektor waited for a chance to seize control and C.I. Project provided it - and the BIO indeed tells the truth that his “ultimate goal is to supplant his father as Grand Master of the Lin Kuei”. However I personally think it was not human Sektor’s desire for power nor personal ambitions that corrupted his programming, as he has never been shown trying to enlist Bi-Han or Cyrax for his planned coup. I think the problem lies in the fact that Grandmaster removed the “flaw” that kept Sektor in check, be it out of love or fear of his father. And once the flaw was subdued, Cyber Sektor could clearly see for the first time that his father is the danger he needed to remove to ensure his own safety, but also Cyber Lin Kuei’s independence. Because this is what you get when you remove humanity from a ruthless killer - no loyalty, no mercy.
And yes, indeed, there is something hilariously ironic about Grandmaster's blindness to the danger of the C.I. Project and perfecting his own son that already dedicated all his life to him and the clan.
